Study about weight loss and romantic relationships
Hi Everyone,
I've been a MFP user for the past year or so, but I don't frequent the message boards except to lurk for inspiration and motivation sometimes! I'm also a professor and researcher at Rutgers University where my colleagues and I are conducting a study about weight loss and romantic relationships. See information below. I hope some of you will participate!
************************************************************
Researchers at Rutgers University in New Jersey are conducting a longitudinal study of the influence that romantic relationship partners have on individuals’ weight loss goals. You may be eligible to participate in this study if you meet the following criteria: (a) you are 18 years of age or older, (b) you are actively trying to lose weight, (c) you are involved in a monogamous romantic relationship, (d) you live in the United States, and (e) you have access to the internet. Participants in this study will complete surveys about their weight loss goals and their romantic relationship once every two weeks for a period of two months. Thus, your involvement in this study would require you to complete a total of four surveys. Participants will receive a $10 gift certificate to Amazon.com for each survey that they complete and they will receive a bonus $10 gift certificate if they complete all four waves of the study. Thus, individuals may earn up to $50 in Amazon.com gift certificates for their participation in the study.
If you are interested in participating in this study, please email the researchers at weightloss-study@comminfo.rutgers.edu. The researchers will respond with screening questions to ensure that you meet the eligibility requirements for the study. If you meet all of the eligibility requirements, you will be given detailed instructions for completing the first wave of the study.
Please share this announcement with any of your friends who are actively trying to lose weight and also involved in a romantic relationship and encourage them to participate. Thank you so much for your time!

Neat. I fortunately feel no pressure from my boyfriend to lose weight, but I'm interested in the results this study finds. I'll email right now.0

Thanks for accepting me into the study! It should open up some really great conversations between my awesome DH and I.
