This weekend, I've been purposely changing my MIND about many things/habits that don't "seem" to be related to my battle of the bulge, but REALLY REALLY are somehow--I've been meditating/praying about PRIORITIES all this weekend and today...I applied some of the lack of priority "issues" I've been struggling with. Waking up EARLIER and handling my business BEFORE doing the thing I like to do is the first order of business I'm dealing with (like logging on to the "puter" checking my emails and sites I like to read--like Mfp
FIRST before doing what I should be doing first ).
I find that an amazing amount of time (hours) whizzes by (and frankly wasted) when I do the stuff I like to do
(a.k.a. my delights and what comes natural and easy for me--wasting time, not counting my time as precious...aka being slothful with my time:blushing: ) verses purposely doing the things I don't like to do FIRST (like my setting some quiet time (praying and meditating, planning and organizing my day. my time...BEFORE) everyone awakens, tackling my household duties, exercising and stuff like that). Anyhoo, WOW :drinker: :smooched: :drinker: How much smoother the day has and is going for me--how much more pleasant it is to do the things I like to do once I've got everything in order and completed. I've certainly NOT "arrived" in the priority FIRST department and I still have yet MANY poor habits to unlearn and cease. Yet, as I dare to humble myself and prioritize my day things--what peace and joy is manifesting itself in me and my home. The STRANGE thing is--not just in me really...but I'm noticing a peace and orderliness in my entire household as well--just by prioritizing my time and duties today--WOOT.
How about you guys? Are you or have you been Prioritizing yourself/your days and if so, what success stories have/are you experiencing? If not...why not? What's stopping or hindering you from prioritizing your day(s)?

Like a lot of moms, I have trouble taking time for myself. But, that doesn't do my kids that much good either! 1. they have almost no interest in playing with me anymore unless its just one of them and me, lol and 2. what sort of an example am I setting if I don't take time for myself? They are a priority, but they are not the ONLY priority. If I'm going to be happy and healthy for many years to come, then I have to take the time now to take care of myself. And when I take care of myself, I take care of my home more. Used to be there was always massive piles of dishes to do, the bathrooms needed cleaning, the carpet needed to be vacuumed, the floor were, well - gross. Now that I exercise regularly, I feel like I have more energy, and therefor my house looks better cared for. It's nice to not have to worry about people dropping by!
Plus, my kids see me working out. That's good for them too! I don't talk much about weight, and being fat, etc, but they watch to see me getting stronger. Being able to still lift them, being able to keep up with them! Sometimes they join me (I do a lot on the Wii), and they've been moving more too. That's a good feeling.0 -

Excellent post and soooo timely too! Ya know, I did some extra-special stuff around the house and my boyfriend didn't notice/say anything right away and I felt myself allowing a "tude" to overtake me...for a minute, then I thought just as you say...I did this FOR GOD and ME!!!! I did this extra stuff, went the extra mile because I wanted to and needed to. BAM! The "tude" disappeared and sure enough, he noticed and then some
So you're right and thanks so much for posting!!!0 -

A simple life is not seeing how little we can get by with—that’s poverty—but how efficiently we can put first things first. . . . When you’re clear about your purpose and your priorities, you can painlessly discard whatever does not support these, whether it’s clutter in your cabinets or commitments on your calendar. (148)”
