Do men always bulk when they lift weights?
My 16 yr old some wants to workout some, but has told me he "does NOT want to get buff"
So what is best? Low weight with lotsa reps? Low weights with a few reps, but more sets? More weights less reps?

I've been lifting a year, i'm 2-3x stronger than I was. My muscles are more or less the same size because I train heavy weight at low reps.
He should read Starting Strength by Mark Rippetoe, but not necessarily take the nutrition advice...0 -
No most don't get anywhere when they lift weights. At 16, unless your son is eating A LOT and lifting progressively heavier weights and actually trying to get buff, he won't have to worry.
rep ranges don't matter. Only progressive increases in work done matters with an energy supply to match it.0 -
