Detoxing from steriods

So recenlty, I've been seeing my new doctor -- whom I love -- on a reguar basis because he listens to me. At one of my last visits he gave me the results of a battery of tests and he said to me that I'm doing great. BP is great, Cholestrol is amazing (his words) and despite the fact I'm nearly 50 pounds overweight, no evidenc of diabetes. He said if he only had the numbers to go by he would never think I was overweight. He gave me some tips and a lot of encouragement. Well, it didn't last long.
At that visit I weighed 170, down about 15 pounds from my previous visit. Feeling great, I went to a friend who's a personal trainer and started seeing him twice a week. I also kept up my walking/jogging on my own. Just one week later the scale said 188. WTF!?
Today my doctor told me my numbers show that I'm doing a lot of things right but for whatever reason my body is storing the fat. He feels it's my years of being on prednisone, a steriod for asthma. I've been on high doses on the medication off an on since 2007 when I had both lungs collapse due to the illness.
So long story short, sort of, I have to go on a doctor-supervised detix to try to rid my body of the effects of predinsone and other asthma medications.
The reason for this post is because I would become so discouraged when I would log on here and read people's stories. They woudl make small changes for the better and see amazing results. I do 5Ks, never drink soda, rarely eat out and when I do it's nearly always grilled chicken and veggies. I'm posting this to let others who may be experiencing the same thing not to give up.
After years of watching doctors give me that "sure" look when I handed over my food diary, I finally found a doctor who listened to me. Here's to the first step of my journey and thanks for listening.
