myfitnesspal & fitbit

Have a question that I need help on. I have a fitbit and it is tied in with my fitnesspal, however when I do exercise should I be logging it on my fitnesspal even though they are connected? I have started doing a weekly zumba class for an hour and I just want to be sure everything is calculating in as far as how many calories I can eat. Thanks

You can either log them or not. Depends on how well FitBit tracks it.

FitBit will really mainly track foot-based exercises. So you might not get full credit for your Zumba if you're doing a lot of arm work or whatever. To log it you just have to make note of your start time, how long the class lasted and how many calories your burned (this is where you'd wear your HRM if you own one). The FitBit added calories will adjust accordingly at the next sync.

When I go to the gym I do treadmill & the machines - I don't manually log anything and just let FitBit do its thing. If I do an exercise video or similar at home I log it. Some people log everything. Some people log nothing.

I just got one and the first day using it - it said I burned 244 calories for an hour of Intense training, because it was plyometrics and other weight type training. My HR showed over 600 calories for the same period.
