This makes absolutely no sense...

So over Christmas break, I ate an insane amount, went over my cals everyday almost, and didn't exercise for 2 weeks(I know that's bad), but I didn't gain that much weight from before the break. Afterwards though I wasn't going over my cals and exercising 3 times a week and when I weighted myself, I had gained weight! How does that make sense? And I don't think I gained muscle either. PS: I've been eating the same food except for the sweets I had for Christmas.

When you start exercising after a long hiatus the body (mine, at least) has a tendency to retain water, especially if muscles are sore.
If I don't exercise for a while, I will notice that I lose a bit of weight and get softer, just before the regain starts.
Try to focus on eating right and exercising; the weight loss will eventually get predictable and there will be fewer surprises.0 -
Weight can change due to a lot of factors; when you weigh yourself, if you're close to your period, how much sodium you've had. It's actually a really crappy way to track your progress. Why don't you try tracking your measurements instead? I keep a log on my computer and only weigh myself once a month.0

I've heard of water retention.
Muscles weigh more than fat which could explain the slight increase in weight gain when you started working out and dieting correctly.
As for over break, you must have a pretty good metabolism!0
