Correct calorie intake

Hi there,

My app has programmed me into 1200 calories per day. I am fining I am STARVING on this amount of calories!!! Here's a few questions:

- Can I up it to 1500 safely to still lose weight and tone up?

- How does exercise work with MyFitnessPal? If I burned 390 calories doing a run, they get added to my calorie intake. So does this mean I should be eating these calories in my day? I.e. 1200 cal + 390 cal run = 1590 cal. Do I eat the 1590 cal to still lose weight? Or will this be to maintain my weight? To lose weight do I try not to eat these extra calories?

Thanks!

If you are running and burning 390 calories they go ontop of your allocated 1200.
No wonder you are starving after doing all that exercise and not getting the reward.
Do you do much activity for your work? I am at a desk all day so if i walk for a half hour or so I get the extra calories to eat however i
like. Personnally for me it goes on chocolate and as long as you stay within your allowance you will be fine.
I cant believe how well this thing works. im on week three and ive already lost nearly 6kgs i think.
It works just keep to it :)

If you are hungry eat. You should be eating the excerise calories has they aren't included in your deficit. For me 1200 would be way low, but I don't have much to lose. I don't know much about figuring out if you need more or not apart from what I have said. But as you said you are hungry, I would say eat a bit more.
  • Wow 6kg in 3 weeks is amazing! And you are doing it by eating all your caloric allowance? It's working really well for you then

I've already lost 30kg and am sitting in my healthy weight range, but am wanting to lose 5 or so more, toning up and gaining some awesome lean muscle, which is why I'm wondering if 1200 is way too low for my current weight and goals.

I'm studying at the moment so spending a fair bit of time sitting in front of a computer, but I do exercise 5-6 times a week, running, fast walking and weights/strength training at the gym. Usually for 30-60 minutes per session too. I might up my intake a little and see what that does for a week. I'm sure I won't gain weight doing it!

    Thanks for your help!
  • Thanks I'll definitely listen to my body a bit more I think. I must be having one of those "bottomless pit" days or something!
