Back surgery recovery?

I had back surgery about 2&1/2 months ago (L4/L5 microdiscectomy) and get muscle spasms in my low back and obliques with certain motions. Obviously I am still in recovery. My dr tells me to walk but my right foot/leg starts to go numb after a few minutes. I am trying to build up stamina.

Has anyone else been through this and do you know any strength training exercises that I can ease into?

I have never been through back surgery but an acquaintance of mine has. She had surgery and when she received the clear to start moving again, she started taking a pilates class with private instruction. This strengthened her core and back and she can now take classes with others, which is how I met her. She said that it has done wonders for her agility and pain management, though your miles may vary. I don’t know the exact nature of her issue or yours, but it is something to look into.

    Bumping.
My mom just had a discectomy and fusion (are those the right terms? haha) on Friday. Interested to see replies :)

I hope all goes well with your recovery :flowerforyou:

ETA: I've heard many people suggest swimming for therapy afterwards.
