8 oz? or do you mean 8 of something else. 8oz isn't very much.

As counterintuitive as it may sound, drink more water. Are you really only drinking 8 (EIGHT) oz a day? You need about 8xs that, especially if you aren't drinking liquid in any other form. You are dehydrated because you have cut out all other sources of water (yes, milk, juice and soda contribute to your hydration levels) and not replaced them sufficiently with water.

As I understand it, when the body isn't used to getting a steady supply of water, it holds onto the water you drink because it doesn't know when it will be getting more. It will even out pretty soon, a few days.

PS: Watch your salt intake (sodium). Too much will definitely cause your body to hold onto water.

I think they're saying they drink- 8 servings of 8 oz glasses. And yes- drink more water! It'll help get things flowing. If the swelling persists for any length of time- and the drinking of more water hasn't helped- then I would contact your family physician.

If you just started drinking 8 oz 8 times a day, you will retain some of that water, especially if you are exercising. Your Muscles need that water. I have actually upped mine from 8, 8 oz glasses to about 14 cups or water a day. It really helps flush my system of salt and other things I eat. Keep it up, I am sure it will even out.

You might want to see your doctor. You might have a liver or kindey issue that would keep your body from processing water correctly.

Good for you for making a healthier choice!
Sodium plays a big part in swelling. You can track in on here, just add it to your macros. Watch your intake of salt, as it's in anything and everything that is canned or prepared. Maybe gradually increase the water? Your body will adjust but it may take a while.

This is what it feels like to be hydrated. It's a good thing, keep it up. Otoh, I wouldn't force feed water just to get a certian amount. drink plenty, never let yourself be thirsty, and don't worry about it.
