Striving to be a sexy grandpa

Guess I should introduce myself.
I'm 47 years old and just had my first grandson.
I never was the athletic type and was a beanpole in school. That quickly changed when I got to college. I've been overweight all my life, though I was fairly active for most of it. I even managed to hike in and out of the Grand Canyon for my honeymoon, while 30 lbs overweight.
But it got bad after that. By the middle of 2009, I weighed 330 pounds. It hurt to get out of bed in the morning and I could barely walk a mile. My XXL shirts were tight and I had to buy 46" waist pants (and struggled to button those).
My wife also gained a lot of weight. We tried several diets, finally decided that cutting out white flour and sugar while eating lean protein and lots of veggies worked for us. We lost some weight . In November, my friend and boss talked me into joining Planet Fitness with him.
Lots of exercise, including cycling to work and now heavy lifting, has helped me lose a hundred pounds. And I do eat the right food now.
BUT - and it's a big "but" - I eat too much. I love my food and my beer. And heavy lifting makes me even hungrier. So weight loss has been stalled for a few months now. And since my weight gathers around my gut, it's pretty important to lose the rest of it.
So I'm here on MyFitnessPal so I can keep better track of what I eat. Around 30 more pounds to go.
