I will help you with the nutrition. Too bad you don't have time to workout, because it really accelerates weight loss.

    Hi Ann,
Frank here. I turned 55 past Oct. Married 2.5 years, have a son from first. He is 32 and been in the Marines for 15 years (sorry had to brag). I now have a 14 yr old step-daughter and a 19 yr old step-son.
I work at MIT and travel 52 miles each way for work. Sounds like we have a similar commute. I need to lose much, about 80 or so to start. I am also hoping MFP will help keep me on track. I did WW about three years ago and dropped 50. I didn't start as heavy as I am now. For some reason I stopped going to WW, I think the value didn't set well with me, not sure.
In Dec I went in for a stress test and they kept me for an emergency stent. 90% blockage in major supply line. That will wake ya up for sure.
Hang in there Ann. I am willing to listen to any challange you may be having with this program. I am sure as time goes on I will be bending someones ear.

You work at MSU as in Michigan State University?

  • Hi Everyone,

My name is Kelly and am in need of weight loss buddies. I am 47, will be 48 in April. Am a grandmother of two girls ages 5 and 6. Two years ago I had open heart surgery, my aortic valve had two leaves instead of three, at one end it had the opening of a pen size hole and the other end had an anurysm that was deteriating. Plus had to have double bypass of coronary arteries because the ones that was supposed to be there were someplace else. So now I am on bloodthinners and I have a lapband to help lose the weight but it seems its not working atm. Why? not sure, I calculate everything on here, even write it out for the doctor, when he does the fills I feel snug, then about 4 days later I feel like I didnt have a fill. I am struggling with calories, sodium intake, sugar and carb intakes as well. Trying to keep it down to where I am allowed to have for the whole day.

Sodium: 2000 or less: Less is better
    Calories: 1200 or less
Carbs: 145 for the whole day
Sugar: 50 for the whole day

I gave up drinking sodas back in July2012, havent touched it since, been drinking coffee or tea with sugar free packets or saccarin tablets. Just started walking, 15 minutes a day four times a week, I thought of it as a 15 minute walk up one way, and 15 minute walk back home. My female dog is my walking partner for now, trying to teach her to walk on leash, she doing pretty good so far! I am consistant with my salads, I have them every two days since the vitamin K interfers with my coumadin I have to try to balance it out.
But that is about it, Im sure I can go on and on, but we are all here for the same thing. :)
