Too much of a good thing?

My question is. Say someone eats more than the recommended calories but just with fruits and veggies is that terrible? To me you could eat all the fruits and veggies you want and be fine but it's the other stuff that really counts....Is this a bad way to think?

Probably, because by eating only fruits and veggies instead of a balanced diet you won't get all the nutrients you need...... PLUS eating too many calories is still many calories, which in turn will prevent you from losing weight....0

We just need a volunteer then we could experiment0

Now I personally rarely go over my calorie count, I am just curious because some people I notice eat unhealthier and consume less calories and vise versa.0

Fruits and veggies are waayyy better choices than cookies or cake, but overall a calorie is a calorie--- you can gain weight on a vegetarian diet if you aren't careful! I tend to try to eat more fruits or veggies on the days I'm ravenous, but overall it really comes down to the calories. Eat broccoli, cucumber or celery--non starchy & no sugar...I don't know if you could even eat enough of those to reach your calorie intake in a day!! LOL Good luck in your journey!0

It's not terrible, but you can't keep it up anyways.
1. 21st century - you'll be influenced by ads, family and friends, and eating out/dinners together
2. yes there were times when humans picked stuff from trees and the ground but that was like 20 000 years ago
3. if you develop being afraid of natural oils, fats, meat and etc. you will become your own worst enemy.
There is no use trying to make extremely radical changes. The question always comes and still there are no topics on the message boards that last saying "I started eating all raw and look how I keep it up after 3 years"... or show me one.0 -
I love my meat and protein. I eat it. I was just curious.0

You can't just pick an arbitrary item out of your diet and say "it was that thing that put me over." Everything you ate that day put you over, and yes, it all counts.0

Veggies and fruits have calories.
A surplus of calories regardless where of they come from is still a surplus and will therefore result in weight gain.
Just like a deficit of calories regardless of where they come from will result in weight loss.

our bodies need all the nutrients....including proteins and healthy fats....only fruits and veggies are okay for a short time but your muscles would suffer very quickly.0

It's kind of a fad, kind of way of life. If you're going to do this, you have to restrict what you eat of other things so your calories are always low. You could look at this all-you-can-eat diet. The people that I know that do this are waifishly thin. It's basically being a low fat vegan. You can eat all you want of the things on his list and NONE of anything else EVER AGAIN. No eggs, no dairy, no meat, no flour, no oils, no mayo, no white rice, no chocolate, etc. But all you "want" to eat of most everything else.
