So over the last 4/5 months ive lost over 40lbs through diet and excercise. I have been going to the gym everyday doing only cardio. It takes me I burn about 900 calories in my 60min workout. Ive noticed that over the last 2 weeks i have not lost any weight. My diet has remained the same and so has my gym routine. After doing some reading online, it seems my body may have gone into starvation mode. I had been taking in 1200-1400 calories daily and burning 900 at the gym. I was told in another forum that this is waaaay to low. How many should i be taking in? I like to gym everyday to relieve stress and i have found that missing one day sometimes leads to misshing a whole week, so id like to keep that part of my daily routine. My goal is to drop 1.5-2lbs a week. Ill be enlisting in the army national guard and need to get weight down, safely of course. my stats will be listed below. If someone could help calculate my needed calorie intake i would appreciate it. I found some formulas online and they are a bit confusing to me. This is my first real attempt at weight and am still trying to grasp the thought of eating more to lose weight.

So.. If you are burning 900 calories in an hour at the gym and eating about 1,200 in a day that gives rest of your body "brain, heart, lungs, etc." 300 calries to live on in 23 hours, just doesn't seem like enough.
Looking at your metrics a sedentary persons TDEE would be at about 2200 calories. If you take this and reduce it by 20% it comes in at about 1750 a day, this should be your bare minimum. Now in order to keep up the exersice that you do I would also recommend eating back some of your excersice cals. If you eat back 25-50% that would put your daily consumption at between about 2,000 and 2,200. By giving the body these extra about 800 cals should do wonders for your energy and hopefully break you through and on your way again, it may take a bit of time to get going though.0 -
makes sense. never looked at dieting this way. thought it was all as simple as cutting calories and working out. Thanks again.0
