Delicious Pain?!!! Huh?

I just learned a new phrase that blew me away. A lady on MFP used the words 'delicious muscle pains' to describe her 'discomfort' on the morning after a particular good workout of her thighs and abdomen.

Delicious muscle pain? What a concept!

The muscles in my upper arms were hurting today, after doing 30 minutes of upper body exercises with my little, pink weights yesterday. At first, I thought..."You probably used the weights for too long. Maybe, you should not use them for a while. You might hurt yourself. Your doctor wouldn't like that."

My doctors have been so concerned that I not do anything to bring further damage to my LEGS...but they weren't referring to my ARMS. They keep telling me..."Don't do anything, if it causes you pain." However, that was a reference to my LEGS. That caution was not intend for my upper body.

Duh! A moment of clarity struck. Pain can be a good thing at the right time and in the right place.

So...today, I can celebrate the 'delicious muscle pains' in my upper arms without concern. I can happily look forward to using my little, pink weights again without fear of that 'delicious muscle pain'. That is just a sign of a good workout on those muscles that have been laying about doing nothing under layers of fat in my upper arms. I have a feeling that I will be hearing from other muscles in the coming weeks and months.

Wait 'til I have new knees. Those leg muscles are in for a big surprise and a lot of 'delicious pain'.

I am posting this on Motivation and Support, because I am afraid to go onto the Fitness Board where all of the REAL exercise folks hang out. I am not ready for them quite yet. They use real weights...and run...and do other sweaty stuff like that. I'll bet they even have defined muscles. Mine are still hiding out under my undefined layers of fat. :noway:

I also know that the Motivation board is where newbies come for encouragement. This is a good place for an old lady in a wheelchair to show them that anyone can lose weight and even exercise...no matter how helpless they may feel to change. I want those newbies to MFP to understand the truth of their situation and say the words, "If that old lady can do it...so can I."

I lost 2.4 pounds in the past week. That puts me into the 240's, a place that I haven't been in more than 15 years.

I had a couple of 1 pound weeks recently and began to think that I needed to drop my calories down to some ridiculous number like 800 per day...but I didn't. I stuck to my food plan, and the pounds are coming off again. Sometimes a plateau happens, but just stay faithful to your food plan...and you will be rewarded.
