Chew 30 times

So I'm sure lots of you have heard this tip before, but seriously - chew every bite of food at least 30 times! I had heard this tons of times, and had even tried it out once or twice, but for what ever reason always ended up forgetting about it and going back to wolfing down my food. But the past few days I've been really focusing on making sure I eat slow, and chew my food really, really well, and I cannot believe how big of a difference it has made to my level of satisfaction! I've had a tendency in the past to want to munch all the time - no how full I was. But now I actually find I have a hard time finishing my food, and I feel satisfied for much, much longer, just by slowing down while eating.

So if anyone else out there is struggling with wanting to eat all the time, I seriously suggest giving this a try!

Cures me of overeating, as the texture then makes me nauseous.

And that was with recommendations of chewing 20 times, not 30!

I don't count my chews, but I do take the time to thoroughly pulverize/liquefy whatever I'm eating. No wolfing things down.

I've been doing it for so long that I don't remember what I felt like before.

I don't know about the chewing part lol, but allowing your body to say, "Hey I am full, stop feeding me" is a good thing.

Not sure I manage 30 times but I've been eating slower, putting my cutlery down between each mouthful and it seems to help. Apparently, the signal from the stomach to the brain, which tells us we are satisfied, isn't noticed quickly enough if we eat too quickly. Being mindful of each mouthful and chewing more, helps stop this. Whatever the explanation, it has helped me a lot to chew more and slow down. The plus side is, I taste the food better too!

I have been stuck on 17 chews for years. Just can't get past it. It's crazy.

I've always savored my food...not sure about chewing 30 times, but I've always savored it...it's always been something to enjoy...one of the reasons I'm here.
