alcohol and exercise

Ok, so on my own principles/boundaries I never actually get drunk. But if, perchance, I have a glass of wine with/after dinner, and then work out maybe 30-40 minutes later, is that problematic? I wouldn't if I was tipsy or feeling unsteady in any way--I'm mainly asking about the alcohol content in my blood. With my heart rate raised, will it cause any problems?

I am not an expert by no means, but in the running world there are actual races that include downing a beer for every mile or kilometer of a race. Not to mention softball players play drunk all the time.

With that being said, it's pretty counter productive.

This could be a tricky question. I am not an expert but I would think you would be okay with just 1 glass of wine. Do you have a heart rate monitor ?

First were are these races with the beer. I NEED TO KNOW NOW. I am serious running would be a new passion if that were the case.

Any on to your thing I am no expert either but i did it for years in the military never hurt. Alcohol does thin your blood a bit so who knows maybe it helps. As long as you are not doing it every time you should be fine.

NOW the races where are they!

Beer races sound so awesome. I haven't actually done one yet but I can't wait. There's even a Crispy Creme race.

Counter-productive how? Because of the calories? That's not really an issue for me. I'm consistently below my goal (though usually unintentionally--just not that hungry...) even before I workout. If anything I need to find ways to add cals. LOL

No, I don't... Not yet, anyhow.

Because, personally, when I would drink, my motivation goes by the wayside and I then don't work out and drink instead. Like I said, I am no expert, just giving my opinion.

If you have a heart rate monitor I was thinking you could monitor your hr on a day where you don't have any alcohol and then on a day where you do have some and compare. I really don't think you'll see much of a difference and if you do see a difference it could be so many other factors such as fatigue level that day, calorie intake...etc

Plenty of people drink to get drunk every weekend then spend hours dancing. I'm pretty sure you'll be fine.
