Breakfast

I have never eaten breakfast...just don't like eating that early....all I hear, though, is how beneficial breakfast is...So, when I started trying to eat healthier, work out, and logging my calories, I started having breakfast. Well, I am seeing almost no results. I am eating between 1200-1500 calories each day. I am taking step aerobics Mon-Thursday & Zumba on Saturdays....drinking 2-3 liters of water each day & some coffee....I'm thinking of going back to no breakfast just to save on caloies....Does that make sense or am I doing anything else wrong?

Are you netting between 1200 and 1500 or are you only eating that for the day, then burning a ton?
I'm not a breakfast eater either, to be honest, and have successfully lost weight doing that. I still eat the same amount of calories for the day, but I don't start eating until I've been up for at least 3 hours, usually closer to 4 or 5. I've been that way since high school I think, maybe even before that.
I wouldn't skip breakfast to "save on calories" but if you are honestly more comfortable not eating it, then go ahead.
Be warned, you'll get alot of different opinions on this. But in the end, do what you feel you need to. Just don't go overboard, if that makes sense....0 -
Meal timing is about personal preference.
Eat when you want to eat. Don't feel like you HAVE to eat breakfast.0 -
Eating breakfast seems to be a huge issue here. You'll get responses ranging from "it doesn't matter at all" to "you HAVE to eat breakfast". I think you have to figure out what works for you. Eating breakfast works for me. It's usually just a banana and a protein bar on my way to work, but it keeps me from overeating, and eating the wrong things, at lunch because I'm really hungry. I think when you get overly hungry you go for the more unhealthy and calorie-dense foods.
And I think it depends on why you're skipping breakfast to 'save' the calories. You're not eating that many calories to start, so 'saving' another 300-500 (?) calories by not eating breakfast could mean you're not getting enough calories in your day. But, if you're saving the calories to eat at your other meals that sounds like a healthier choice.0 -
You should absolutely not go back to eating less than 1200-1500, and based on your activity level, that's probably not near enough. Calculate your TDEE (IIFYM.com has a good calculator) and subtract 20%.
As for time, whatever works for you and your schedule.0 -

there's a huge difference between eating 1200 and 1500 calories. How did you come up with your goal numbers? and how long have you been at it? (when did you start this new regimen?)0 -
I've only been eating and exercising like this for a month. Usually, I eat around 1500 if I exercise, and 1200 if I don't. Is it important to eat back my exercise calories? I usually burn around 800. According to MFP, my calorie goal is 1200...then more like 200 if I workout....But, I was thinking I would lose quicker/ easier by not eating the calories I am burning...I really want to do this the healthy way...I've always been a fad yo-yo dieter..So, I am learning how to do all of this the correct way...0
