Dr. Oz suggests raspberry ketones and African mangoes.
Misinformation aside, the only way to significantly boost your metabolism is by increasing your lean body mass, which achieved through regular exercise.

What Jayche said. Muscle burns more calories/minute than fat does, so exercise to burn fat and increase lean body mass.

While it is true that a number of things can affect your metabolism, the most efficient way to create a calorie deficit is to simply reduce the calorie input (through "diet") and increase the energy expenditure through activity (exercise). Medical conditions aside, I really doubt that anything that claims to "boost" your metabolism will have anything near the effect that proper nutrition and exercise have (if it works at all).

Other than activity I just know of two things that do increase your TDEE: Higher protein and more muscle.

A diet higher in protein wil also have a higher thermic effect. You use more calories to process protein than carbs of fat. There will be a a metabolic response to a higher protein intake. The effect, however won't be something dramatic. Lets say you have a 2000 calorie diet, if it is 40% carbs, 30% protein and 30% fats, its thermic effect would be about 340cals. If it were 60/20/20 it would turn out to be around 280..

As for the higher metabolism with more lean body mass, the effect is not big either. In my case, for instance, going from 20% to 15% body fat (maintaining my weight) would mean a difference of about 60 calories a day in BMR.

I don't know if it actually works but I take B-12 (along with eating healthy and exercise).
  • walk instead of taking the stairs or the bus, or car. and if you are on the bus, don't sit. stand. basically increase your daily activity and try to spend as little time as you can sitting. it works for me

Incorporating some strength training along with that running should help you retain more muscle while burning fat, thus aiding your metabolism.

I don't know about kick starting, but caffeine will give a temporary boost. But the best way to permanently boost it is regular exercise.

The only real way to greatly increase your metabolism would be to add lean muscle to your body. Eat higher cals, get more than enough protein and lift heavy weights. A certain food will not make any noticeable differnce.

Caffiene helps but it doesn't make a lot of a difference.
