Deciding to Switch to Maintenance

Has anyone gotten to a point in their weight loss (with still some weight to go until you reach your original goal weight) and then decided they were happy and switch to maintenance?

I like the way I look now, but when I did the military body fat percentage it said I was at 32.8%. I feel like that's pretty high (its at the high end of the healthy range). I'd like to switch to maintenance and try to tone up more, but I'm not sure. A part of me thinks I should still try to lose some more weight while trying to tone up. Ahhh confusion.

Oh, also, I've always had a nice, shall we say, derriere, but my boyfriend has informed me its starting to shrink. Sad day :( I do a TON of squats so I don't know what else I should do. I'm very torn haha

Anyone's stories would be much appreciated.

I'm just now starting to switch over for maintance but I need to tone up as well. Ive got a few lbs I'd like to loose in certain areas but I think toning up while upping the calories a little before your done is a good idea. The body can use the fat that's left while you tone maybe.

I think if you increased your calories to maintenance and started lifting heavy, you would see some really nice results. It would likely reduce your body fat percentage too and you'd notice more muscle definition.

Bump...I'd like to see what else people say. I'm ok with my weight now...still have fat to loose and I'm also curious as to whether using my calories to maintainance will help me achieve more muscle definition.

Agreed. I still have a lot to lose, but from reading through posts of a lot of women who did this, it's the key to changing body composition. It may be time to ignore the scale and focus on bf% or how you look.
