I have been reading and studying a lot about goals and here is what I have learned.
When you have a goal we all know to WRITE IT DOWN right? Well, I find it is more then that. When we have a goal and we write it down and give it a date that is just the beginning!!! We need to do some REAL searching and figure out WHY.
With goal setting the WHY is the MOST important part of the goal. Say I want to read 100 books in the next year. OK That is really good. Why? What is it that you hope to gain from reading the books? What type of books? Break it down. Make a list which of which books? Why did you choose those books? What is it that you are going to gain from the books you chose?
It is the same with all of our goals. Say you have 100 lbs to loose. Why do you want to loose 100 and not just 98? What are you hoping go "gain" from loosing? How fast?
If we dont figure out the why then we will never really achieve the goal. Well, we could but it is going to be much harder and take a lot longer then if we figure out why.
When we have the WHY we can look at that goal when we feel like we dont want to go on and we can remember the reason that we set that goal in the first place.
It is to easy to go out and have the cheese burger with fries when we are having a bad day if we dont have the reason WHY we what to loose the 100 lbs.
So go write down you goals and then give them a reason WHY you want them.
