Reminder to Myself

"Everything you do is based on choices you make. It's not your parents, your past relationships, your job, the economy, the weather!, an argument, or your age to blame. You and only you are responsible for every choice and decision you make." PERIOD!
So, I have to remind myself that I can no longer fault taking care of my parents and their health problems, no social life, losing my job, being broke, those rainy days, being depressed, arguments with my daughter, stress of helping to raise my granddaughters or menopause on the fact that I gained 60 lbs.
These things did not force all those mounds of pasta, cakes, cookies, ice cream, soda, alcohol, danish, donuts, chocolate....etc., down my throat. I knew it was bad and I chose not to care. I made a conscious decision each time I put these things in my mouth. I chose everyday to sit on the couch and not exercise. I ate healthy and fairly 'clean' all my life and one day I chose not to. And I kept choosing not to for over 2 years.
I thank God everyday that I found this site. Finding MFP was the motivation I needed to begin to make changes and find myself again. And I am so very, very thankful for the wonderful people here who constantly offer such positive support and encouragement.
It's only been 4 weeks, and just under 5 lbs., but my spirits are still up and I'm still determined and motivated. I've only had one really bad day so far but I got through it with the help of a couple of great MFP friends! I know there will be other days ahead where I might want to quit. Although I've never been afraid of hard work, this may be the hardest thing I've ever had to do. But the changes have to come because I do not want to spend the rest of my life like this. I decided I want to be healthy again and I choose to make the necessary changes.

Glad you are so motivated - just keep those reasons in your head all the time and you will easily be able to lose that weight again - I find looking at the success stories a huge inspiration. I am 5 months in now and the weight is coming off soooooooo slowly - and sometimes I wanna give up and can't be bothered but after reading posts such as yours it keeps me going. Good luck with losing that weight.0
