Fitbit...which one to get, and a few other questions

So I'm thinking of breaking down and getting myself a fitbit. I have no idea which one to get. I was thinking of the zip as I really don't care too much about sleep data and this is the cheaper option. I don't climb stairs as a regular thing (like to get to my office) so I'm not sure I really care about that . Does the Zip track steps when doing stairs too?
What makes me lean away from the Zip and towards the new flex is the wristband. I'm afraid that the zip won't be secure while I'm at work. I work in a dirty, dusty, environment and wear bib overalls so I don't want to ruin my investment or have it fall off and get stepped on. I could probably put it on my bra.. Is it quite secure?
Lastly I'm wondering if my money would be better spent on a HRM. How does the fit bit stack up against the numbers as far as calories burned? Has anyone compared the numbers?

I have the original Fitbit Ultra (which just became obsolete two months ago) and I just keep it in my pocket - I don't clip it to anything and have never had an issue at all. I've heard too many horror stories of the clip eventually wearing out or when it's clipped to pants, getting caught on something and falling off without being noticed.
The Zip doesn't record sleep or flights of stairs, but will still record your steps as you do stairs.
To me, the downfall of wristband is having to wear it all the time and having it be visible. It wouldn't look very great if I was dressed up and out somewhere and I would probably get really sick of answering questions about "what is that?" at work. That might just be me though.0 -
There are older posts that answer your questions just click on search at the top of the community board and type in fitbit, fitbit zip, hrm, etc or a string of words.
I have owned the fitbit one for two weeks and love it, but don't really use it for sleep. It is not for exercise use ie if you run, do cardio, etc you should get an hrm to get your actual calories burned not just how many steps you're taking. I wear the fitbit 24/7 weather clipped to my waistband, inside my pocket or bra. The hrm I also wear when doing any exercise, walking, etc. I have had the hrm for a year now (Polar FT4). It helped significantly with my weight loss last year and helped me to log actual calories burned. IMO, if I were choosing between a fitbit and hrm, I'd go again with the HRM.0 -
Lots of people have a fitbit for daily activity and a HRM for exercise. Look on eBay for used ones. You should be able to get the old Ultra cheaper now. This does sleep and stairs but doesn't syn with phones, have the silent alarm and is not waterproof. A PolatbFT4 is a very popular HRM.0

Thanks, I did search it but didn't find the answers to my questions. I think I agree about having the wristband and explaining it. I really want it for work as I'm sure I get well over 10,000 steps per day, but I don't want to cheap out and get a pedometer that isn't accurate.0

I have the Fitbit One and wear it on my bra. It's secure so I don't worry about it falling off. I had an original Fitbit and it fell off my bra and I lost it : (
I would personally stay away from the Zip because you can't charge it, it runs off a watch battery. That seems like it would be annoying to me.0
