Nobody said that, apart from one lone tae bo enthusiast.
What people are saying is, that muscle weighs more than fat, when volume is equal. Something has to be equal in order for a comparison to be made.
Nobody is dumb enough to think that any fixed weight of one thing weighs more than the same weight of something else.

Not this again.
Stand by for a 30 page thread about semantics.0 -
A cubic inch of muscle weighs more than a cubic inch of fat. Overweight people don't want to lose weight because they want to lose mass; they want to lose weight because they want to lose volume.
I think my favorite iteration of this thread was the one where I was called an idiot because I said muscle weighs more than fat, when really fat takes up more space than muscle.0 -

a pound of muscle weighs more than a pound of fat, if the pound of muscle is on Earth and the pound of fat is on the moon
I think what people mean is "muscle is denser than fat"0 -

When they say muscle weighs more than fat, they believe it.0 -
The unstated implication is that by volume, muscle weighs more than fat. Only the worst kind of idiot would honestly think 1 > 1, followed only by the sort of a person who thinks that other people would think that.0

An equally pedantic response could have been that an inch of fat takes up the same space as an inch of muscle.
By volume, muscle weighs more than fat
by weight, fat takes up more space than muscle.
I have never seen anyone on here claim that 1lb of muscle weighs more than 1lb of fat, except for the people who start these sort of threads.0 -

typically when someone refers to that sentence they are not comparing weight by weight they are comparing weight by volume.0

Let me put this from another perspective:
What weighs more, a ton of feathers or a ton of lead?0 -

Every time one of these threads pop up, I am forced to face the fact that our educational systems have gone to hell.0
