hey guys!

I'm kinda new at this so just letting you know! so, I am unable to get a ride to the gym all days of the week, so I was wondering if you think playing DDR is a good workout to substitute those days? How long should I play to get a good workout?

Thank you!

How far is the gym? Why don't you walk/ride a bike/run? Do you want to lose fat or build muscle? Running outside is probably more beneficial than playing DDR.
  • The gym is probably like 15 miles away, i just cant get a ride like 3 out of 7 days. and I would but the weather hasnt been that nice lately, and its cold outside! once summer comes ill try to start jogging or something haha and i was to look like 11 more pounds of fat, then start to build muscle

I've been playing DDR on and off since it first came out!

If you're playing on Heavy, it's definitely a great cardio workout. After 2 or 3 Heavy songs (8-9 footers), I'm gasping for breath and my heart is pounding.

If you're still on Light/Standard, it'll take a while to get up to that level of workout... but it will come!

I'd say... if you're playing on Light, the equivalent would be a moderate-paced walk.

On Standard, maybe a light jog.

    On Heavy... running full-speed!

Good luck! It's a really fun workout.
  • Oh, I remember DDR. XD Some of the best times on the Playstation.

The faster and harder the song, the better the workout. If you are just starting out and doing the light/easy songs, it burns very few. After even one Heavy song, though, my HR and breaths would be quite fast, probably equivalent to a sprint. It is a very good calf workout, quite similar to jumping rope.

Also, my old version had a workout mode with calorie counter (no claims as to its accuracy though!).
