I guess you have to ask yourself if you want to be fit and strong, or just look that way.
  • why wouldn't it make you fit and strong?

    truly a novice here.
  • Anywho, my primary goal is weightloss (nothing major-15lbs)
But, I also want to keep up with some sort of strength training

I'd really suggest StrongLifts 5x5 or Starting Strength.
From my limited knowledge, HST is for bodybuilding - which is not the same thing as strength training.
Also, you won't be able to induce hypertrophy if you have a calorie deficit.

sorry for digging up an older thread, but i'm about to start HST, so i've been learning about it.

Hypertrophy training has the size of the muscles as the primary goal, strength/power/endurance are not of importance.
I'm not saying you can't lose weight or get stronger with HST, you certainly can, but there are just other training regiments you'd benefit better from.

as jimmie65 suggested, something like 5x5, these border-line strength/hypertrophy hybrids, i think would suit your goal better.
