Great Value is the worst bacon brand on the planet.
Go with Trader Joe's brand if you have it near you. Still cheap but GMO and hormone and antibiotic free.
Great Value is not a brand to even put in your cart.
If you don't have TJ's at least get nitrate free bacon.
Do some research on Great Value....horrible horrible farming practices.
Take a look at this . Surprising
lol nitrate free bacon

I second the natural nitrate free bacon, you want to fuel with real food not just empty calories
Say what??     :huh:0 -
I am making bacon in the form of the Cowboys star; it is double smoked...any takers?0

When I weighed the GV bacon, 2 pieces weighed what the package serving weight was, even though the serving size said 3 pieces. It has the same calories as any bacon, but is so thin that it seems less.0

I totally understand everyone wanting to eat as clean and chemical free as possible - it's great. However, (and this is more so in general, and not maybe so SPECIFICALLY directed at you) people who are all, "ONLY EAT ORGANIC GMO FREE LOCAL GLUTEN FREE DAIRY FREE" (etc) are TOTALLY ignoring the fact that organic/etc food is REALLY expensive! We have a one-income household right now, I'm in nursing school, paying double the price for 1/2 the quantity isn't always feasible. Malnutrition is a threat, just like foods with chemicals is a threat.
(end rant, again, not specically at you, just an in general kinda thing)0 -
Oscar Meyers center cut bacon is 70 cal for 3 slices.
THIS and I go for the lower sodium kind.0 -
Jennie-O turkey bacon is also pretty low-cal, although I prefer the real stuff.
Yes....we eat turkey bacon in our house. Even my 7 year old loves it!
this !! i never liked the "wasted money" on real bacon ...
so turkey bacon now that its been around a while is the option , which is better, buy 12 oz packet of bacon cook it , end up with 5 oz of edible food or buy the 6 oz packet of turkey bacon(for a buck) and then when the jenni o is cooked its still 5 oz of food ... for half the price , sorry, i love bacon just as much as the next person , but until it comes down from 8.00 lb for good not fake smoked injected, ill stick with the Jenni o0 -

ME!!!! ME!!!!0 -
It's not that precooked bacon is lower in calories, it's that the nutritional information doesn't include the fat that has already run off from cooking. Assuming you're not consuming the bacon fat from the pan, the nutritional information will be similar for normal bacon.
^this. I was going to post the same thing.0 -
I buy chicken bacon, I know not technically bacon but I cant tell the difference in taste and low in calories.
Chicken bacon!!???!!! Nah, no thanks0 -
I tasted that stuff at my parent's. I'd rather go without. I use Canadian bacon for less calories or just eat the calories with real bacon.0

Okay, I feel like I was the only one that did not know this...
The precooked bacon that you find in the stores are very low in calories!!! The Great Value brand runs 60 calories for 3 pieces. The pieces seemed a little short, so I went with the Farmland brand at 90 calories for 4 pieces.
So was anyone else in the dark about this marvelous discovery???
This got me geared up for a super delicious BLT...
270 calories for a very large BLT sandwich that has plenty of bacon for me and was more than enough for a dinner portion. I placed mine on my panini press set to max heat setting for a few seconds to get it slightly "toasted".
90 calories - Flat out flatbread (improved original)
90 calories - 4 slices bacon
20 cals - tomato
10 cals - lots of shredded lettuce
60 cals - 2 packets Hellman's Light Mayo
pepper to taste
you can save yourself even more calories by replacing the Mayo with yogurt dip or sieved greek yogurt. 2 tbsp. about 25-35 cal
I have bacon-2 strip for breakfast about 5 days a week with coffee and skim milk. So satisfying0 -
We get the: Bacon - Hormel Fully Cooked - Sams Club
4 slices for 70 calories.0 -
this is a crazy thread, i don't even know where to look first.
ckn bacon
trky bacon
ready bacon
real bacon
thick bacon
endscutoffbacon
just eat your bacon already and don't worry bout the cals no matter which one you're getting they all should fit nicely up all your macros.0 -
In for bacon!

Get Hempler's thick center cut peppered bacon (or not peppered if you dont like pepper), the bacon is so good, 2 slices are 90 cals, but its thick and meaty and 4 slices are more filling than 6 or more of most brands, good on protein too. Plus I don't get that "bacon haziness" I get with some other brands when I eat a lot of it, and the cost is not much more than other brands in my grocery store. No antibotic/hormone fed pigs, no MSG added. It has nitrates but "no nitrates" really doesn't mean there are no nitrates in "no nitrate" bacon (they just add the celery powder and let bacteria act on it to create nitrates).0
