Nutrition information wrong?

Wondering why the nutritional information varise so much on the site. I can put an apple into the tracker one day and it is 61 calories, next time it is 100. What is up with that?

  • probably depends on the size of the apple and the item that you have selected from the search - I always use the same search from one day to another and copy it over ..

A lot of the entries are user information so it's best to figure out which one is correct and stick with it. The ones without a star belong to the program and are usually correct.

Get a food scale at walmart for 30 dollars.. I have the biggest loser brand which is digital. There are also ones that are cheaper! I love mine and swear by it every day!

If it does not have a label (like raw fruits, veggies, meats (like from the butcher)), use the entry without the star.
The info for those items is from the USDA Nutritional Database.

Also, if you're entering your food based on size (besides eggs), you should stop. And do it by weight. Everything is far more accurate by weight. Your definition of a medium apple might be different than what's listed.

+1. I love using my scale to measure my food. It keeps my honest. Helpful for fruits and veggies, but even more helpful for higher calorie things like pasta - I never really knew what a serving size of pasta was until I got a scale and actually measured out the 2oz the box said was a serving.
