Calorie counting for smoothies.

So this might sound dumb, but I just wanted to make sure I was doing this right. I am trying to have a green or fruit smoothie everyday for at least one or two of my meals, and when I went to the food tracker their was green smoothies that were 25 calories and others that were 100 and others that were 200 or more. So then I decided to list each ingredient that i put in the smoothie on my food tracker and was wondering if that was accurate. I hope it makes sense what I am saying... lol.

List each ingredient. If you make the same smoothie all the time you can create a recipe so you don't have to keep doing it every day.

    This^^^^^

I never use foods that are already in the database unless they are a verified UPC coded product that you can easily attest to accuracy by looking at the label information on the package. If I make seething like a smoothie I enter it as a recipe. There's now way to know what some of the ingredients are if you use a general green smoothie from the list or joe blows green smoothie etc. my personal recipe lists is at least 10 pages long!

    ^^ THIS

NEVER trust a generic item in the database just because it's called "smoothie". I do smoothies all the time for the whole family with protein powder, fresh friut, yogurt, milk, juice, etc. I measure out everything that is added in individually, then add it up to get total calories. If your total lets say is 1,200 calories and you have made 60 oz total and you plan to drink 10oz then you take the 1,200 / 60 x 10 = 200 calories (just an example). I never make individual servings but the same rule applies and like Mokey said above, create a recipe so you just have to check it each time you have that smoothie :-)
  • okay thank you everyone!!! :)
