For sure, you will have a lot of people telling you to eat more.0 -
Yep, I call it a case of the hangries - hungry and angry because of it.
It's likely that 1200 is too low for you - it sure was for me. I upped my calories using this topic to find and set my daily goal: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/654536-in-place-of-a-road-map-2-0-revised-7-2-12
I've been having great success (and feeling awesome!) eating at 1800 calories for many months, best move I ever made. And I'm losing fat and inches, dropped a pants size in the process.0 -

Losing weight and being healthy shouldn't make you feel like that.
You need to assess if 1200 is enough for you.
When I started I was on 1200, it made me feel dizzy, cold, tired, ill cranky etc.
Turns out I was quite capable of losing over 1lb a week on 1600 calories. I just needed to work out my TDEE and take a sensible TDEE.
In your instance if you aren't feeling right on 1200, maybe you should reassess.0 -
Yes, it's our bodies way of rejecting us for being more healthy.
It should get better in another day or two. If not, try to bump it up to 1500, or eat more protien rich foods...I know that worked for me.
Good luck!0 -
The only thing that puts me in a bad mood
is eating things I should not eat!
I stay on the 1000 to 1200 calories but
my weight still goes up!
I think it is WHAT I am eating not the calories.
Stay your course and your moody will go up,
better still go for a walk0 -

Only during my period, or before it.0 -
Heck yes. I am a moody beast if I go below 1400. I've learned that in order to lose weight successfully (i.e. lose it SLOWLY and keep it off) I need to fuel my body properly to get through a busy day at work AND a workout. I can't do this on less than 1400 calories. I can eat more, feel way better, power myself through my day, sleep well, and lose weight. Win-win!0

Eating only 1200 calories put me in a horrible mood also. I was crabby all the time and had headaches. It wasn't until I figured out my TDEE and adjusted my calorie intake accordingly did I start feeling better. Now I eat between 1800 - 2100 calories. I feel great and I'm still losing weight too.0

Caffeine and dark chocolate helps. As a once in a while thing. Obviously most of your calories should be veg based.0

I NET about 1200 calories per day, which means that if I exercise for an hour and burn 600 calories, I end up eating 1800 calories. Because I work a desk job and burn very little at work, 1200 net is enough for me to feel full while still losing weight steadily. If you live a more active lifestyle, it likely isn't enough.
Regarding moods, I find that if I am eating the right KINDS of foods, rather than just counting calories, and exercising regularly, my moods are pretty good. I eat mostly veggies and lean protein with some fruit and nuts, plus a protein shake every day, and some days, I feel so full it is hard to get to the full 1200 net calories. If, however, I am eating 1200 empty calories (junk food), or not getting enough protein, fat, and fiber, or not drinking enough water, I find that I am still ravenously hungry, and I can be a real pain in the butt. Remember, the suggestions on MFP are suggestions. You have to find what is right for your body and situation. For example, they recommend 8 glasses of water per day, but I am in my 40's, and tend toward dry skin, AND I live in the desert. Consequently, I have found I feel much better if I drink 10-12 glasses per day. Find what works for you.
It sounds like 1200 calories is not it.0 -

A constant 1200 calories makes me agitated and cranky. I have my calories set at 1200 but in reality eat around 1400-1500 most days. I t works for me if I have a couple 1500 days and then a couple 1200 days. On the 1200 days I eat a lot of protein, mainly in the form of shakes. I might have 2 shakes with PB2 mixed in, plus a dinner with meat and veggies and a high fiber carb. I also eat a lot of the Dannon light and fit greek yogurt, high protein and only 80 calories with dried fruit and almonds mixed in. It's great after a work out so your blood sugar doesn't slip and give you the crankies. I guess mixing up the calories on certain days helps to keep your metabolism up as well, at least thats what I have been told...It keeps me happier too which is a good thing cuz everyone knows "if mama aint happy, nobody's happy!" Good luck!0
