Fiance wants to start exercise, doesn't know how to eat

Hi guys,
I've been a MFP member for a long time. I started doing crossfit about a month ago and am still trying to figure out how to effectively juggle my macros (I literally hear something different from every single person, so I'm sort of doing trial and error for myself).
My fiance recently decided to get involved in crossfit as well. He hasn't started yet, but will in a couple of weeks. He is not overweight and is very athletic- but the problem is that he has VERY high metabolism (i.e., he gets "high" just from eating food). He was wondering if there were some guys out there who would be able to give him some nutritional tips so that he doesn't pass out during crossfit or whittle muscle away due to an increased metabolism.
I've tried to tell him how to eat healthier if he wants to do crossfit and A) I realize that my nutritional goals are different than his, and
he needs to hear it from outside sources (ugh).
Another note to make: he only eats twice per day (trust me, I've been trying to get him to work on this), and it's usually lunch (burger and fries) and dinner (healthy dinner from me), then garbage snacks for the rest of the evening.
So yeah... Nutritional tips for an athletic, poorly-nutritioned 20-something male who is looking into doing crossfit. Your thoughts are much appreciated!

Curious as to why you think it is bad for joints? Don't use the competitors on TV as your source. They do different workouts entirely.0
