What kind of weights do you use for 30 Day Shred?

Women, if you usually use 7.5 lb. dumbbells at the gym (don't laugh!), would you use those for 30DS? Or maybe go slightly lighter to be able to do more reps? (I'm assuming she has you do more than 3 sets of 12-15?)

I got the DVD from the library to try, then noticed it said you need weights. I thought I'd try this on non-gym days to mix it up a little.

i mix it up. I have 3 and 5 lb weights that i use. i like to switch back and forth. if i feel like i want more cardio out of the videos that day then i use 3 lbs so i can burn through more reps, but if i feel like id like to work on toning more that week, i use the 5 lbs :)

Thanks! That makes sense. I think I'll try that.

I started with 5lb but that nearly killed me so I'm on 3lb at the moment. However, at that weight I feel like I could do chest flies all day long, so might try 5lb for the chest flies and 3 for everything else.

I use 15 to 20lb weights at the gym but can only use 5lb for most of Jillian 30DS! The only one I can do with 8lbs and not stop is any of the shoulder press moves...you are doing alot more reps. It's a great workout IMO and different from what I do at the gym. Def start with lower and work your way up! Have fun!

I typically start with the 3lb and then work my way up to the 5lb. Or I'll do the 3lb weights on the harder things then 5lb weights on things that I find little too easy.

I use my 3 lb and 5 lb weights. Right now there is no way I could do any heavier. It depends on the work out but I switch off depending on which area of my arms I am working.
