HRM HELL

I got my HRM yesterday via post. So decided to try it out this morning. HOWEVER, after working for 1:26 it has stopped!?!?!?! It is a Polar FT4
can anyone help? Does anyone have a solution to fix this without me having to send it back and wait however long it will take the company to test it?
I have rewet the electrodes, repositioned it etc as the manual tells you to do so, but it still isn't working. I would LOVE some ideas before I get really unhappy and annoyed.

My sympathy. I bought a FitBit as a backup to my Polar FT7 for just this reason- my company has a wellness program that gives us points towards substantial discounts on our health insurance for workouts- but only if your workout was monitored and recorded. Darn hard to prove you worked out when the *&&^#! HRM says your heart rate is zero. The FitBit doesn't measure heart rate but it's simple and foolproof.
Here's a good site I found with more troubleshooting information.
