So how bad is my diet?

I have been keeping up with all of my eating since the 31st of Dec and have lost 20 lbs. I would like to know if my diet is okay or should I start increasing my intake. My profile is public so anyone can see, but I generally stay under though once in awhile I go above my number. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Only exercised once this week because of bronchitis.

Okay...wait....you lost 20 pounds in a month, eating THAT? Holy hell, I am doing something terribly wrong. xD0

This is the easy weight for me. For some reason I lose weight pretty fast upfront, then it slows down a bit. first week was water mostly... 270 to 260 then it was 260 255 then 255 to 252 then 252 to 250. I was about to start insanity this week but ended up with bronchitis. So I had to cut back.0

Your diet is not healthy at all, you are eating way to much take out and processed food. If you added sugar & sodium to your diary you would see how much you are consuming. Add fresh veggies, salads, complex carbs , brown rice, quinioa , lean protein, chicken , white fish ect..You are what you eat, eat well and your body will reflect that...0

Your diet doesn't have to be perfect, but you should add some fruits and veggies into the mix. If you're overdoing it on the sodium, definitely up your water intake on days where it's too high, but also try to bring it down. Water retention messes with the scale.0

I dont log my water intake. Its 8+ cups a day at the least.
I am trying to improve, when I work a long day and am really getting hungry I tend to go for the quick fix but stay below my calorie count (except Wednesday).
It happened today as well. I ate okay then I went to a meetup for my career and they served pizza. I was hungry and ate 2 slices. Fuel pizza is quite high in calories.
I try to avoid bread like the plague.
I will do better!0 -
Personally, if I start something with an "all or nothing" mentality, I fail. For me going from essentially nothing to BAM! counting calories, perfect diet, perfect exercise...it's a recipe for burnout in a couple of weeks. Some people thrive on that, not me.
You've been doing this for a month. Great! You're seeing success in counting calories. Now add a new dimension: improve your diet (more veggies, fruits, homecooked meals) or exercise. In another month, improve the third area.
Yes your diet can use cleaning up, but there are many many people on MFP who have had success just by counting calories. I feel better eating whole, unprocessed foods (for the most part) but the calorie deficit is the important thing.
Good luck!!0 -
thanks! I am working on the non processed foods. I have some salmon, but I want to put teriyaki on it so bad!!!
best seasoning I have is everyday seasoning from trader joes. that stuff is great on any meet.0 -
One of the glorious things about eating really healthy food is that you get to eat a lot more and still stay under that calorie threshold. You also get a lot more nutrients and a lot less of the bad stuff! I eat all damn day and almost never go over 1300 calories.0

Ok..
I think you already know the answer..or you wouldn't have asked the question.
what you need to do is baby steps. Replace one thing with something healthy.. like.. idk.. cut out fast food/take.. or limit it to once or twice a month.
Experiment. Buy something at the store you never heard of.. like I got spaghetti squash (so good!) before i knew what it was.. and I did the same with bok choy and kale and a lot of other stuff. (omg! roasted kale!! mmmm)
1 thing at a time. Once you get used to that one change, make another.. or aim for 1 change a week.
don't diet.. change your life. then it's sustainable.
it's not that you can't eat take it.. but look at how many calories, fat and sodium is in it. Then compare it to something raw, fresh and home made... you won't be able to argue with it.
if you like sweet. get a ripe pineapple.. it's like candy.
if you crave the crunchy food make homemade baked potato chips or kale chips salt them to get rid of the salt craving.
There are a ton of little changes you can make that will have big results.
I'm not perfect, but I eat a TON and I rarely eat enough calories. My diary is open if you want to look. it's pretty easy to eat healhy once you really make that choice.
when shopping stay on the perimeter aisle of the store (except for peanut butter and frozen veggies aisle) that's where most of the healthy food is kept. or join a farm co-op, If you're like me at all, the thought of all those fruits and veggies you spent money on going bad will spur you into cooking.
I was the girl who burned water and set grill and oven on fire growing up. If I can cook anyone can.
Oh.. and if you have to have fried foods.. get an oil-less fryer. .I'm in love with mine.. all the goodness of frying without all the unhealthyness of it. YUM!0 -
It's not great, but one thing in particular that stands out to me is the amount of carbs you have at night. That's the worst time of the day to be eating carbs.0

Nobodies diary is perfect.. just eat more vegetables, fruits and wholegrains. Cooking more home meals will help you with that. Don't forget the water!0
