Hello! I'm starting to look at GPS Watches and was looking for opinions on what I should get. I'm looking for something fairly simple that tracks mileage, speed, time, etc.

I was looking at the Garmin Forerunner 10...thoughts?

I have the garmin 10...the gateway of garmins. Relatively small and cheap. I am in love! It doesn't display current pace except on the mile but shows distance and time elapsed.

I have the Forerunner 10. Simple, easy to use and small. I don't need a HRM or something that displays 20 million things. Just give me my distance, time and pace. Very accurate!
  • The only GPS watch I've owned is the Garmin 405 (with heart rate). I bought it when I became serious about training for half marathons 5 years ago and it was very pricey back then (around $350). I used to use the heart rate (all the time) when I first got it. Now, when I run - I only use the GPS and use the heart rate monitor only during a race. The 405s are now around $175. The newest model out is the Garmin 610 - which is touch screen ($300). I love my 405, but if you are looking for something simple - I agree with the others that the Forerunner 10 ($130) would probably be the best choice for you.
  • Here's a great website for reviews on Garmin watches: http://www.dcrainmaker.com/product-reviews/garmin. The reviews are pretty thorough. I had the 205 for about 2 1/2 yrs then upgraded to the 610 a little over a year ago.

The polar ones that are more advanced have it too. I have the rcx5 and love it. But some lower priced polars have the GPS and the signal and function I have found to be great.
