Hey there,

I am 20, 5'6, and 230 lbs, barely do anything apart from going to uni two days a week (can't afford anything else, looking for a job) and I have just started eating less than 1200 kcal a day to someday reach 120 lbs... And I noticed that I don't have to change anything on my "menu", apart from the exclusion of the junk food that I used to have about 3 times a week, when I was chilling with my other half (e.g. a burger and chips once a week, and a chocolate bar and crisps twice a week *not proud of that*). All the other days it used to be about 1200-1500 kcal a day, eating pasta/rice with beef/chicken for lunch, and things like cereals, cheese toasties and canned tomato soups for dinner (used to skip breakfast). All my food is homemade, I know what I put in it and I have scales, so it's unlikely that I've miscounted something.

So if I can still eat my main meals without barely changing anything, where is the challenge, and how am I supposed to lose weight still doing the same thing I've been doing all along? I know that cutting out all the junk food will change a lot, but does it really have that much impact? Or the fact that I am actually counting calories now will help me?

I got checked my endocrine system out recently, they found PCOS (that no one explained anything about, apart from "if you don't lose weight, you won't be able to have kids"), so maybe that has something to do with it... And as with my budget (which is less than you can imagine) and my lack of knowledge of the ways to efficiently implement healthier food into my diet, I'd been eating stuff that's cheap, makes me full and happy.

So, I would much appreciate if you would help me understand how any of this works and what I should do and change... Thank you!
