i am getting conflicting answers and not sure where to set my protein... how do i figure out a good amount. I am only doing rin30 5 days a week, so nothing to strenuous... and i had y diary set to 40-30-30 and it gave me over 100grams of protein. A lot of others have told me i should be between 60-70? some have told me that a lot eat too much when it's not needed... so not sure where i should put myself?

I just asked my dr about this- she said that as long as you don't have a known kidney issue that 100 g of protein is fine (at least for me- I am a 30 yo woman in good health).

Mine is set at 45, but I keep going over. Not by a lot. Guess I will look into this. I always thought protein was good.

.8 to 1 gram per pound of lean body mass is a common recommendation and works pretty well in my opinion. The default MFP settings are definitely low.

You want protein in your diet and lots of it. The only reason to limit it would be if you have kidney issues or have trouble digesting protein.

Going over your protein amount is fine. You need protein to protect and repair your muscles. Protein keeps you feeling full for longer. Protein helps your body regrow (when I am low on protein my hair starts to fall out and get thin).

For some reason MFP gives protein amounts far too low... the majority of people need a lot more daily than what MFP suggests. I aim for at least 100g a day. You need more if you are trying to build muscle as well.
