Which to pick?

What's a safer bet you think calorie-wise(going to a restaurant): bowl of vegetarian chili with cheese or a veggie burger (portabella mushrooms, lentils, quinoa and flax seed) with side of fruit?

    The cheese will be the high calorie part of the chilli - is it essential, could you have less cheese?

    For the burger, depends on what fat has been used in making and cooking it.

    Either sounds lovely, I'd just have the one you like most.

    Without knowing the ingredients, I would imagine the chili had less calories.
