  • Actually pancetta is cured pork belly, bacon is cured then smoked. No nitrate bacon means it was cured with naturally occurring nitrates in celery and the such

Still nitrates in it from the celery (which this post taught me is high in nitrates:smokin: ), just no nitrates added directly. In the end you still have nitrate filled bacon. Love how they spin things to selll products!

Blast it, you have now alerted the world to my slow suicide plan and I will have resort to eating my big@ss salads in the closet like I do my bacon.

Don't crumble bacon onto your salads or you'd be consuming waaaaay too many nitrates in a sitting

So use uncured bacon........ No Nitrites, less salt, sugar and depending on the brand less fat.....

There is no such thing as uncured bacon. Bacon is cured pork belly.

My point was that there is no such thing as uncured bacon, just as there is no such thing as turkey bacon.

As the #1 culprit of food poisoning, it doesn't matter if you personally have never suffered from food poisoning from green veggies, the fact that some people have is enough to recommend it to be eliminated from your diet.

Food Poisoning is great for weight loss lol. MOAR GREEN VEGGIES!

Nitrates are in most lunch meats and pig products, bacon, ham, anything smoked.
And actually the deadly contaminates are in meat.
The China Study showed that people who are completely meat, dairy, and even fish free were also free from disease.

The basic premise of the Paleo diet is that early man was a hunter and gatherer.
However, if you look at other primates, they are primarily vegetarian, except for a rodent here and there.

Also if you look at the anatomy of the digest tract, meat eaters have a short intestine. Vegetarians like humans have a longer tract.

Even look at fish, the larger ones that eat other fish are the ones that are most toxic.
The smaller ones that feed on plankton are better food sources.

Sulphates are in dried fruit and bright green spices.
MSG is in prepared foods and sauces.

  • Just a thought: I have ben eating fresh green, leafy vegetables (along with red, purple, orange, white and other color vegetables) my entire life, and I have never had a reaction from them. No food poisoning, no gastric distress, no nothing. Will these capricious desires shorten my life? Well, I'm one month short of 65, and we're all going to die someday, so frankly...I don't care! The weight will kill me before the lettuce does...so bring on the salads :)

O dear..... Since most farm animals eat green veggies too, does it mean I have to cut them out to be safe?

I give up! This has gotta be a bit of wank, surely. Statistics are one thing, the root causes are another. Is the illness attributed to the vegatables chemistry or the fact that it may be a carrier or host for pathegens from poor storage or preperation. Our food chain is full of crap these days, but to eliminate green vegetable based on statistics is overkill. Every day I turn on the TV, radio or internet, I'm told of another medical fact. If you listened to all of them you may as well check out of life now. yep I'm a cynic.

There's a study made to support any theory, somewhere, at some point. If there isn't one yet, just wait a little while. Every bunk gets debunked. I prefer moderation and common sense.

You may be giving up greens but, how healthy is your diet? Are you eating a diet free of packaged foods and soy? If so, you are just as doomed to a life of cancer and death as the rest of us.
