Who's got their PhD in BroScience?

Alright guys, don those sleeveless lABcoats and weigh in on this.

I'm hearing that the fiber in fiberone snacks is not good for you because it's chicory or something.

I'm also hearing that artificial sweeteners like splenda are not good for you.

Who's checked up on these? And if they're so bad, what's a good alternative. Help me out Bro Scientists!

I've got my degree, but it's in the Gymrat Specialty. Someone else should handle the F&N stuff.

But hey, i never let a lack of knowledge keep me from posting in a thread. Splenda probably won't kill you, but it's pretty easy to make your calorie number without resorted to diet products (besides coke zero, which YOU WILL NEVER TAKE AWAY FROM ME), and never heard of chicory, but I wouldn't worry about that either.

Hey! This post is sexist! Just kidding. I'm wanting to hear about the fiber one bars too.

    Broctor checking in.

Not all fibers are created equal. Soluble fibers are good for reducing cholesterol, insoluble fibers are good for the dookies.
Splenda sucks because it doesn't have any calories, therefore doesn't give you any energy.

The fiber in fiber one bars is chicory root, aka inulin. It's not bad for you but it causes digestive issues in a lot of people.

I have no desire to get in an artificial sweetener conversation.

This study (and all the others I found on google scholar) show no coorelation between sucralose (splenda) and glycemic response. However, many of these studies are funded by the Splenda companies and can be very bias. I haven't found any peer reviewed journal articles on the harms of Splenda (sucralose) but I have definitley heard a lot of bad stuff about it. Anyone else have a negative study???

A glycemic response would require calories. Most sweetners have been studied to death world wide, especially in the USA and nada.......except hysteria, that has been correlated by many observers.

Splenda has 3 calories per gram, in America this equals "zero", it is not related to the sucralose but to fillers.
It's mostly dextrose, I think. Only 5% sucralose.
