Hungry when tired

How do you stop hunger when your tired? I have been having lots of trouble sleeping lately. Last night was the worst. I only got about 3 hours but I had to eat before I finally fell asleep. At 3 AM my kids chicken nuggets was not my best choice especially sense I dipped them in ranch.... I was just exhausted and needed to eat something to fall asleep. It worked but now I have all those extra calories.

I go through spells when I have trouble sleeping. Snacks before bed help a lot for me. Try scheduling a snack just before bedtime. I know lots of folks have the 'no food after X o'clock' strategy. But having something in my belly helps me sleep. Some I use are a cup of yogurt or a WW english muffin.

same here. I can not sleep on an empty stomach so I always make sure I have a small snack before bed. My favorite is an apple with any kind of nut butters (almond butter, peanut butter, sunflower seed butter, etc.)

Leave room in your budget for a snack before bed. If you wake up in the night with the urge to snack have a large glass of water and go back to bed. Eating for comfort is a really good habit to break.

I eat a snack when I'm feeling a little hungry because otherwise I can end up in a full blown I could eat a horse mode which always ends badly nutritionally.
My favorite evening snacks are frozen fruit topped with plain Greek yogurt & a sprinkle of almond slices, 1/2 cup pistascios in shells, or graham crackers with peanuts only peanut butter & 6-8 ounces of skim milk with a tablespoon of chocolate Ovaltine.
When I'm feeling particularly awake, I'll take 3 to 10 mg of melatonin. It's a natural sleep promoter.

When I'm tired, I drink warm almond milk (the 35-calorie a serving kind) with a little cinnamon and stevia. I think it's mostly psychological, but if feels more filling than tea, and allows me to go to sleep.

I always save calories for late at night because I always get hungry. I like to snack on those Special K Cracker Chips (barbeque ones are the best) or a little 25 calorie no sugar added popsicle. :)
  • I often have a pre-bedtime snack as well, but I've had fewer issues with being hungry in the middle of the night after increasing my calorie intake. Are you using MFPs preset calorie recommendations? It's possible that MFP may be giving you too low of a number for your height, weight, activity level, etc.
