Looking to add mud-running friends

Hey all, this is my intro post. I'm 6'4" and in 2009 I weighed 255lbs, was a functioning alcoholic, and an avid smoker. It took my wife leaving me for another man to pull out of the cycle. So I went a bit crazy and jumped into diet and fitness with both feet. I lost 70lbs between the time she walked out and the divorce was final. 6 months after that I had built up enough strength and endurance to complete the Tough Mudder (thanks to an insane friend) and later the Warrior Dash.
After that I started dating around, got back into bad eating, drinking, and smoking. I remarried, got comfortable, and the lbs just starting loading back on.
I'd been noticing my gut growing for a while (see pic in profile) but one day I decided to dress nice for work and couldn't button my slacks. That was it. I saw my old self in the mirror and knew it was time to fix this, and fix it for good.
So I'm about 3 weeks back into it and making good progress I think. I'm ready to commit to this for life. Not in a NEVER eat bad food or drink, just eat healthy most of the time and drink a LOT more water than alcohol.
The thing is, I really hate running for the sake of running. I need a purpose and goal to my running and marathons are completely uninteresting to me. The challenge of mud runs excites me though and drives me to run even when I don't want to. I also don't get to choose when they are so I can't put off work outs.
To being this back around to the subject of the topic, if you enjoy mud runs too invite me so we can talk about the upcoming events, preparation, results and generally be excited about them together!
