Hey All,
Just a quick question if you had the choice between getting a fitbit one or a bodymedia core which would you get and why? And also just wondering if those who have either feel about them? Just trying to decided which to purchase. Thanks for your help.

I just bought the fitbit1 and like it so far but only had it for a day and already feel motivated. The other is very expensive and from what I've learned, is ongoing each month. So, I can't say much about it. Fitbit is a tool which motivates me. Good luck in whichever you choose

I did some searching last night and found out that fitbit is coming out with another gadget called the fitbit flex it's an armband (bracelet) you wear that keeps track of the same things that the fitbit does only you wear it on your arm instead of clipping it to your pants. It's supposed to come out this spring. Maybe I'll wait for that one to come out lol more decissions now.0

I do not have either one but have been intrigued and did a bit of research--nothing technical, consumer comments. In a nutshell, here are the differences:
BodyMedia Fit is supposed to be more accurate because it uses movement, body temp, galvanic response. The Fitbit One is supposed to be less accurate because it only uses movement, like a pedometer.
The Fitbit One is supposed to be cheaper because it does not require a paid subscription to view uploaded data on the website. The BodyMedia Fit website costs $6.95 a month, ($83.40) a year after the free 3-month subscription that comes with the meter.
Fitbit One is less conspicuous. You can clip it on your bra or a pants pocket. (Though some people have lost theirs after it feel out of the little clippy holder while jogging.) The BodyMedia Fit goes on the arm, is a little bulky and may not be suited for everyone's style, especially those who dress more professionally for work.
All the info made my head spin. So, for now, I'm sticking with my $25 Omron pedometer. :-)0 -
I've got both. Eating calories from fitbit didn't work for me but so far using BMF I have lost. In terms of clothes, I just ruffle up my sleeves and no one has commented.
I bought my BMF used on eBay, plan to se it for three months to gather data and then sell it on again.
Feel free to ask me any questions.0 -
I just got the fitbit zip (decided on that vs the One because I didn't need the extra info on sleep and stairs so went with the cheaper option) and I'm liking it. I clip it to my bra so its pretty invisible under clothes. I chose it vs the bodymedia fit because of cost. I didn't want to be locked into paying a monthly fee to use it.0

I love my fitbit one. Watching those steps motivates me to do more. The flex coming out in spring does not have a digital readout, just leds as you reach your goals. It will not measure flights of stairs climbed either.
However, fitbit and mfp now integrate with digifit.....so if anyone has one of those heart rate monitors that syncs with digifit, you can get the best of all of your worlds...your fitbit for sleep steps/distance, and digifit for your cardio workouts.
I have a heart rate monitor that i use when i actually do the cardio, and i just use my fitbit as the timer. then I log the actual calories burned here.
I cant say I have used the jawbone or nike, or bodyfit media, but for the price....at least for my pocketbook, my fitbit one was the perfect way to go!0 -
I love my FitBit - I've been looking at the Body Media though but a huge ugly device on my arm is a real turn off. Plus a lot of the reviews I read said it causes chaffing or other skin issues and I already have sensitive skin. I like that it seems like it would be more accurate but I just can't get past those issues and I'm pretty fond of my FitBit.0

I don't even notice it any more. I scrunch up long sleeves and it doesn't show. Not sure if ill want to wear it in the summer though.0
