Anybody else having trouble sticking to their daily recommended sugar allowance? After putting in all my info into MFP it told me I should be aiming for 24g sugar per day.
Yesterday I got up, ate an apple, hit the gym, then got home and ate a banana and a small bowl of bran flakes with semi-skimmed milk. I was already over on my sugar allowance by over 30g!!
I was just wondering if anyone else is struggling with this

Yep! I have cereal and canteloupe for breakfast everyday and then other things throughout the day usually put me over. I just try to make sure I'm not eating high fructose corn syrup or artificial sweeteners because for me it's more about health and I know I'm not eating as much sugar as I was before so I feel "safe", haha.0

That happens to me. I love my fruit so I have one whenever I'm hungry and that's my downfall. But they say not to worry if its natural sugars, and only have 2 fruits a day =]0

my diet consists mainly of fresh fruit and veg and I constantly overdo it due to the natural sugars in the fruit. However, calories do not go over and I think its important to make sure if u do have a lot of sugar in your diet it is all natural and not from chocolate of syrups and other things that naturally tend to have sugar in it x0

No chance of that - I gave up chocolate for lent (which feels like it's going on for YEARS!)0

YES! I just posted about this exact same subject earlier today!
I ate a bowl of granola and a cup of coffee for breakfast and went over my sugar!
Seems pretty harsh, I know. But I guess natural sugar is okay......it's the added sugar thats not okay. Plus, when you read the ingredients make sure that 'sugar' is way down on the list.
So, if I'm understanding this correctly, fruit and sugar in veggies, milk, and stuff like that is fine. But sugar that is added is bad.0 -
Yeah that sounds about right - it makes me feel so much better to know other people are having the same issue! It was making me took twice at my fruit bowl!!0

ya, natural sugars are good for you... granted if your eating an entire sack of valencia oranges in one sitting that you may need to reasess your habits. but seriously, its the refined and added sugars to packaged foods and sweets that will cause your waistline to erupt.0

ditto, I stick to getting my sugars mainly from fruits and whole grains, I'm more careful about foods with refined sugars, high fructose corn syrup, etc0
