I recently purchased a Polar FT7 heart rate monitor because i can never get a reading on the machines at the gym and want to know how many calories i am burning and what my working heart rate is.
I have read the user manual and wet the strap thoroughly, (a couple of times when it wasn't working) and the strap is tight on my chest (skin/fat bulging out tight) but i can not for the life of me get a reading on my watch. it just thinks for a little bit and the watch makes the little circle motions then makes a sounds and says "check heart rate transmitter" and thats it!! it wont work and is very frustrating because i just spent $115 buying it and it won't work fromt he get go.
My sister (a nurse) says i have a very weak pulse, would this have anything to do with it? if anyone has any advice or can help me out it would be much appreciated... thanks

Hi
couple of questions for you -
are the batteries the ones supplied or have you used new ones? if not try new ones as sometimes kit batteries are not so good
have you tried positioning the sender on your left side on the rib cage if you can- mine gets the best readings from there and yes i have to wet it every time
good luck0 -
whenever my ft7 acts up i tighten the chest strap and that seems to work. sometimes it feels ridiculously tight when i first put it on but i dont even notice it a couple minutes later.0

You need to wash the band, too, to keep a good connection. I do regularly in the sink with soap and water. I guess you can put it in the washing machine on gentle as well.0

My was off the other day- the treadmill was picking up it's signal but my watch was not. I loosened my watch strap and it started receiving again Hope yours is an easy fix as well!0
