Eating in restaurants

when you get your meal, do you ever get a container right away & put half your food in there to go? Does it make you feel a bit "awkward" or have you gotten any reactions from others?

I typically plan ahead to know what I will order and how much I should eat. My husband and I like to share a meal, so we'll ask for an extra plate. Then I will order a side salad extra. If we aren't sharing, I have asked for to-go container right away. When the server brings the food, and asks if everything looks okay, I'll say, "it looks great, but I'll need a to -go box to take some of this with me." Theya re always eager to oblige. Never have had any adverse reactions...and wouldn't care if I did!

If you don't take it with you the only place it goes is in the bin. And that costs restaurants money. I've worked in hospitality my whole life and honestly people are only delighted when people take their food waste with them. nobody likes throwing out food.
