depends how much protein you are getting - if you are doing resistance training a rule of thumb is 1gram per pound of lean body weight. so for me I'm 200 lbs lean weight is probably around 160-170lbs so i try and get 165g a day, so I take whey just to make sure I hit that number if I am short
  • It depends on why you are doing it. I drink some either before or after a work out because I typically don't like to eat something solid before or I'm too busy to make something after. Or, since I count my macros if I am especially low on protein and don't have meat handy, I would drink it then. Hope that helps.

I do it because I don't eat enough protein. Normally I'll put a scoop in my smoothie at breakfast, and have a second one wheni get back from the gym.

I have a protein shake post-workout. Whey protein is just a supplement if you're not getting enough protein through your regular diet, it won't do anything magical nor will it hurt either.
