1,200 calories a day diet?

I want to follow a diet/meal planner whilst sticking to 1,200 calories a day like I want to in my food planner, but not a clue where to start! Can I just cook meals and eat what is within my daily limits, or do I have to follow a particular diet plan?

    Whatever you decide, just count calories
    But watch what you eat, you need to watch your proteins, carbs, fat tho
