I've been getting heartburns for the past month or so.
I haven't gotten heartburns since I was pregnant w/ my second and it sucks.
Any home remedies?
I don't like Rolaids, Malox or any of that stuff... they upset my stomach.
Drinking milk does work but sometimes I feel sick afterwards.....:frown:

  • Don't know if this will help, but I've noticed I get heartburn when I'm really stressed about something. Try some de-stress tactics, and see if that helps. It usually doesn't stop for me though till I resolve the issue that's bothering me, so I work on resolving it.

    Hope your feeling better soon....:flowerforyou:

I have severe acid reflux. There are a few home remedies that will keep you from having to take over the counter meds. They are not the most pleasant remedies but I do have to say they work!

One of them is Organic Raw Apple Cider Vinegar. 2 tablespoons straight or mixed with about 6 ounces of water. it does not taste very good. You can add some honey which will also help a little. It is prefered that you drink this prior to a meal that you think will cause heartburn. But it will also work afterwards.

The next is baking soda mixed with water. About 1/2 a tablespoon mixed in luke warm water. The amount of water is your preference. I must warn you:sick: , it is extremely salty in taste. It will releive the heartburn you already have. It is not recommended that you choose this one long term as it can raise your blood pressure if used consistantly.

I hope one of these rememdies works for you. I have had bad reflux since having my son who is now 4 1/2 yrs old. I have tried over the counter meds and RX drugs. These are just short term fixes but they do work. You can research them online too if you would like to read about it for yourself! Good Luck

Amy, I totally agree with the Apple Cider Vinegar. It was horrible to take, I almost lost it. I haven't had heartburn since!! But you have to be ready for it. To me it tasted like really really bad warm wine.

First, cut out all caffeine, nicotine and alcohol. Second, try Zantac 75 or 150. It's a tiny little pill and it works great.

My hubby takes apple cider vinegar TABLETS as opposed to the liquid. Still not tasty but easier than swallowing the liquid I would imagine. You can find them in the health food section.

    Hope you're feeling better soon.

Pizza gives me heart burn sometimes, so I started eating yogurt after eating pizza and I haven't had heart burn with it since then. I used to do the milk thing too and it worked most of the time, but yogurt seems to work better - I think the enzymes in it help with the acid. Good luck - hope you find something that helps!!

Saliva is a natural antacid. Our bodies are amazing and even can produce remedies for us. Try chewing on some gum and actively swallowing the saliva, trust me, it works wonders!

I have acid reflex if it is not treated it is bad for your body.. If you are getting it all the time I would consult a doctor. I had to be put on medicine (a little pill daily) and dont get it anymore.

Thanks for that tip Jess... I will try that also.
The heartburn doesn't occur everyday so it's not worrying me.
