Hello all,
I see a lot of women use such harsh language about themselves. Words like shame, guilt, bad, wrong, etc. I want to encourage everyone here to use only positive language about yourself and your weight loss or health goals. When we berate ourselves, we start a negative swirl of emotion that's hard to stop.

Try to frame everything in a positive light. When you really want that cake, instead of thinking you are "bad" for wanting it, instead think "which do I want more? The cake now? Or living to hold my grandchildren?". And if you choose the cake, don't shame yourself, just do a little extra exercise. All things in moderation.

If your weight loss approach has you shaming yourself or concentrating on your failures, you will not succeed. And none of us is put on this earth to feel rotten. We are here to laugh and love.

Just some perspective from an older Mom who has seen a lot of life.
Thanks for listening.

I've always believed in realism, especially after reading Barbara Erhrenreich's Bright-Sided.

But I agree, shame and guilt are useless emotions.
