What are 'healthy' foods.

Healthy foods are not determined by their, calorie, fat, carb, protein count. They are determined by the nutritional value of the food.
After reading the previous post about coconut oil... I am quite frustrated that people still dont get the point? Saturated fat isn't bad, fat isn't bad, carbs arent bad. No food is bad or good. But 'healthy' foods are minimally processed and high in nutrients.
This is a list of what i consider healthy foods, it doesnt include processed 'health' foods like pasteurised dairy etc. But thats just my preference and opinion. I won't push that on anyone.
Raw fruits and vegetables
Raw nuts and seeds
Meats (fatty meats are actually very good for you, but sometimes you have to get lean meat to keep the macros in check!)
Virgin oils, the way they are extracted doesn't alter the product.
Sun-dried fruit (i'm not saying heat-dried will kill you, it still has nutrients, but the slower the process, the more nutrients intact)
Raw, soaked grains like steel cut oats and pearl barley.
Some freshly cooked whole grains.
Some cooked vegetables like potatoes.
Raw beans and legumes. (cocao powder mmmm)
Raw dairy?
I, am choosing to switch from whey to raw brown rice protein also. Purely because of the heat treatment of whey.
You shouldnt necessarily cut out foods or food groups and restrict yourself, that is what i see alot of people doing. But choose to eat as much enjoyable healthy foods listed as you can. And stop seeing certain foods as 'evil'. Processed foods with some nutrients intact (like processed muesli bars) wont hurt you at all. I'm just saying opt for as natural as possible

Thank you!!!
I was literally baffled as I was reading some threads on this forum; people are so misinformed about nutrition. I read a comment by someone who said that they had to give up salmon because it was too high in fat and my jaw literally dropped.
Many people equate 'healthy' with 'low calorie' and that is definitely not the case. If you want to just eat low calorie with no consideration for health, then fine, but don't pass off what you're doing as healthy. Subsisting on egg whites, fat-free everything, processed low calorie/sugar free foods, etc, and fearing things like nuts, hummus and salmon because they're 'high fat' will do nothing for you nutritionally. Sure, you may lose weight, but that doesn't mean you're healthy. I wish people would switch their gears from "must be skinny" to "must be healthy" because being skinny doesn't mean your body isn't slowly dying.0 -

I watched a UK TV programme today in which a man had a gastric bypass and was being interviewed a few weeks later.
The presenter pointed out that before the operation the man had a very unhealthy diet of burgers, fried chicken, pizza etc.
The doc asked him what was a typical meal for him these days and he replied "some custard and a cookie". I was really shocked when the doctor responded in a positive fashion!
They had not bothered to teach im ANY healthy eating habits. He was still eating junk, but without protein!0 -

Anyone who tried living on steamed vegetables and egg whites earlier can confirm it is NOT MANAGEABLE on the long run.
Everyone believes they gave up this or that strict diet because they were "weak" and had "no willpower". Truth is it is the body that gives up because it was not designed to deal with that. It does and will rebel and want some fat and carbs and whatnot.0 -
Well once you roast/bake/grill/bbq, etc. all that "raw" stuff you have listed, then I can agree 100% Woot!0
